World War Z: Aftermath’s Horde Mode XL Update Launches Tomorrow

World War Z: Aftermath’s Horde Mode XL update launches tomorrow

If there's one thing the World War Z game franchise is known for, it's the massive hordes of zombies. We kept this design philosophy in mind when we hoped to update Horde XL mode to World War Z. For Consequences.

Horde Mode XL World War Z: The Aftermath Update is coming tomorrow

Tomorrow launches Horde Mode XL, a new game mode that harnesses the power of PlayStation 5 to bring more bloodthirsty zombies to the screen than ever before, including the previous Horde Mode Z.

In the new mode, you and your friends will find yourself on a new map where you will have to defend a civilian camp located inside a shopping mall.

Connected to this mall are three game areas, each representing a frontline being attacked by hordes of zombies trying to get at civilians.

  • Recovery area. they attack from the temple and the village.
  • River area. attacks from the city
  • Building site. The Persians attack the factory

The rules are simple. survive as long as possible and don't let the zombies get to the civilians.

The main difference in the new mode is that some waves of zombies will be "XL waves" with a huge amount of zombies on screen at once, all behind you and your team.

To survive this onslaught, you'll need to stock up on supplies to launch enhanced defenses. These are one-time events that start at the start of Wave XL if you have enough saves and kill a bunch of zombies at once.

The more supplies you accumulate, the more deadly your upgraded defenses will be. Hard protection is different in each area. The restaurant area has rockets, the riverside area has jets, and the construction site has explosive gas.

XL Horde Mode also has other new gameplay features and surprises that we can't wait to see when you start playing.

New weapon crafting system

XL Horde Mode isn't the only feature launching with this update. The remainder of the update includes a new weapon progression system and is available for PS4 and PS5 players.

In the new system, skins are not tied to specific weapon stats. While you need experience points and supplies to upgrade your weapons, leveling up now tracks linear stat progression (and unlocks various bonuses), and you can apply any skin to your weapon.

One of the biggest new features are weapon perks that will become available as you level up. Each gun has three slots in which only one bounty can be placed. Based on the effectiveness, the benefits are divided into two categories: unique and shared. Players can only install one skill and two general skills. Bonuses can affect stats or provide unique gameplay benefits, usually giving you some flexibility to customize your weapon.

We've also created tons of new free skins for each weapon that can be unlocked through the weapon progression system.

WWZ. For the veterans following along, it's also important to know that your progress won't be erased with this update. For example, if you previously unlocked version 3 of a weapon, that weapon will now level up to level 3 in the new weapon progression system; they will be the same in terms of functionality. You will also have access to all previously opened skins.

The XL Horde Mode update is just the beginning

This is the beginning of World War II. The consequences. As you continue to support this title, so will we. Stay tuned for more exciting updates in 2023!
