For the past few months, we've been talking about Horizon Call of the Mountain, an upcoming adventure for PlayStation VR2 that's set to launch on February 22. Today we want to spend some time with Rias, the character you play as you experience a new story in the world of Horizon.
Sodom in the Karya is plagued by blood-red raids, the Karya's brutal campaign of violence against neighboring tribes, and ritual sacrifices. These raids, which claimed countless lives, ended when Avad was overthrown by the Mad Sun King Geran.
The coup of Jera's reign splits the Karji clan, who thankfully stays in Sandom when his reign ends, and soldiers loyal to the slain chief infiltrate Sunfall Tower and turn Karyu into a shadow.
Rias, the protagonist of Horizon Call of the Mountain, was one of those soldiers. Rias, who played a key role in the kidnapping of the young prince Itami from the house of Meridian, wants to forgive herself and restore her honor.
Rias escaped execution by allowing Kariya to arrest and imprison her. He is now recruited by the Immaculate Sun King Avad y Marad. Rias must find her freedom to unleash a new threat: a professional bandit, archer, and hunter. Ben McCaw, Director of Storytelling at Guerrilla Studios, gave us more information. “I was already on the wrong side for all the right reasons. His family fell apart and he was eventually imprisoned. Rias is on a dangerous adventure, and while she can do it alone, she won't do it alone. Along the way, players will meet new characters and interact with family members, though their past has influenced those relationships, Ben explains. After the battle for Shadow Karyu, Rias' relationship with these characters was the exact opposite. If you expect to be accepted, you need to go in and fix things.
Take, for example, Hami, a powerful soldier from Karya Sodom who survived the horrors of the Red Invasion while being assigned as a border guard. Having lost many of his friends and acquaintances in the conflict, he is unable to forgive or forget the atrocities committed against him by the ghostly Karya. Hami, known for her wit and short temper, resents being accompanied by Rias. Her distaste for who Rias is is just one of the problems she faces.
In Horizon Mountain Call, players can experience the world of Horizon from a new perspective and through Rias as a new character wearing a PS VR2 skin and headset. With haptic feedback, intelligent eye tracking and an ultra-wide field of view, the gamer will be incredibly immersive and Call of the Mountain will take you directly to the most terrifying peaks of Sandom and beyond.
