Swim in ice caves in Antarctica, kayak with dolphins in Costa Rica, weather hurricanes in Norway and explore canyons in Australia. You can explore these real places with photorealistic graphics in this kayaking game specially designed for virtual reality. And better than ever on PS VR2 than Kayak VR. Mirage joins the PS VR2 launch service.
Perfect display for PS VR2
Kayak VR Mirage is a great game for VR beginners and veterans alike. Compared to other types of movement in VR, rowing offers natural and intuitive movement in an environment, making it a great game to show off your new headset to friends and family.
In addition to visual fidelity, we spent a lot of time on the game's physics. While beginners can hang a kayak quickly, experienced kayakers can control it with the precision you'd expect from a real kayak. This focus on natural physics also applies to the rest of the environment; Plants, drifting ice, and debris react realistically to your paddle and kayak.
Relax on the water
As we design the environment, we want you to feel like you've arrived at the right time. Swim under the aurora australis, watch a whale come up for air, or listen to the water lapping against the rocks. These relaxation moments are designed to combat the many high-intensity games available in VR and help you relax after a long day or intense gaming.
The sea and wildlife are an important part of our design philosophy. Watch penguins jump from frozen rocks, turtles jump from the shore into the water, and dolphins swim by. You can even try to catch a fish with a paddle! But rest assured, just like real fish, they move away dynamically depending on the location and speed of the strike.
Immersion and sound
Sound is critical to VR immersion, which is why we've spent so much time setting up acoustics in various environments. Hitting a rock in a kayak sounds different when you're in an ice cave than it does on the Norwegian coast. The general soundscape also plays an important role in the immersion, in which being in the thunder not only feels alive, but comes to life.
The soundtrack changes depending on the time of day and weather conditions. If you're racing, we recommend taking your speed up a notch, and Freeride mode gives you a quieter, more ethereal soundtrack as you paddle under the stars at night.
Game and sport meet
Whether you want to relax and enjoy the view or scratch the competitive itch and get hot and sweaty In race mode, the game will help you. Each area has multiple lanes that allow you to compete against your friends or leaders in a unique way. And even if you don't feel like running, the game tracks your daily and weekly mileage so you can challenge yourself to complete the distance.
PS VR2 great recording and OLED HDR display
When we saw the game on PS VR2, we couldn't believe how vibrant the worlds were. Foveated rendering makes the game look sharper than we've ever seen, while the PS VR2's OLED HDR display adds a new dimension to nighttime levels.
We hope this information excites you as much as it did us, in conjunction with the game's release on February 22, 2023. We will wait in the water!
