Top Tips To Get Ready For Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Out December 2

Top tips to get ready for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, out December 2

Hi everybody! I'm Jake Solomon, Creative Director at Firaxis Games, and the good folks at PlayStation have asked me to share some of my top picks for Marvel's Midnight Suns, which is releasing tomorrow December 2nd.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is the latest title from Firaxis Games, which you may know as the makers of Civilization and XCOM. It's an immersive tactical RPG set in the dark side of the Marvel Universe where you rule and live among Marvel legends from the Avengers, Runaways, X-Men and more. You play as Hunter, Marvel's first customizable hero, and face off against Lilith, the mother of demons (and your actual in-game mother). Now come on in!

Build your perfect team

There are three things to consider when building a team: What mission will I be on? Who is responsible for this role? And who do I want to improve and level up?

In Marvel's Midnight Suns we have different types of missions, each with a different objective. Some missions require you to guard a VIP who is protected by powerful enemies that you must first eliminate. In another mission, you defend your target against the forces of Hydra and Lilith. The mission type will help you decide if you want a powerful single target damage dealer like Captain Marvel, or someone to really spread the love of the sword.

Second, every mission in Marvel's Midnight Suns has a mandatory hero that you have to live. All story quests require hunters, and general quests may require anyone on the list. Depending on your needs, you can change your strategy. For example, if a mission calls for Doctor Strange, you know you'll have no trouble crafting a hero, but you might have a bit of trouble dealing damage. Understanding each hero's strengths and weaknesses will help you build the perfect team.

Lastly, you have to decide which hero you want to power up. In Marvel's Midnight Suns, all abilities are represented as cards, and the only way to get more cards to improve your abilities is to play missions. The more you play as a hero, the more skills you unlock; So sticking with your favorite team has its perks!

The Power of Friendship

Marvel's Midnight Suns features a buddy system where you can chat away from the battlefield and meet up with your friends for huge bonuses on the battlefield. You earn friendship through various activities: choosing the right dialogue when talking to heroes, spending time with them, giving them their favorite gifts and praising them. The better you understand a hero, the better chance you have of earning those precious friendship points.

What's not known is that in addition to the individual friendship level with each hero, there is a group friendship level that increases when you make friends with the rest of the world. Increasing friendship with your heroes can increase your team membership, unlock combo skills, increase the power of your compliments, and much more.

And these Battlefield bonuses can be real game changers. One of my favorites is the Iron Man I Hold This passive, which regenerates if you play multiple Iron Man abilities in one round. Iron Man can use these upgrades to power up his abilities... and you'll definitely want to play with these enhanced abilities, which means you'll reactivate his passive abilities during battle. It can snow very quickly if you play your cards right!

Take your time and have fun

With Marvel's Midnight Suns, we wanted to create a game where you can truly tackle your problems at your own pace. Whether you're looking for a great Marvel story or looking to test yourself on Ultimate III difficulty, we want it to be something everyone can pick up and play. There's no time limit on when you have to complete the mission, and there's no limit to the total number of missions you can complete.

Don't forget to explore the Abbey grounds as well; There are more mysteries to be unraveled around your mysterious supernatural base. Become a person who acquires skills, find seed materials and unlock all the secrets of the Bloodline.

Hopefully these tips will get you ready to play the game when it's released and enjoy all the combat and story potential. Marvel's Midnight Sun will be available on PlayStation 5 on December 2nd.
