Beware hunters! Monster Hunter Rise releases for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on January 20, 2023. It's been just over two years since the last update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, so we can't wait to welcome players back to PlayStation. in the village of Kamura. and back to hunt.

Monster Hunter Rise adds to the hunting experience you may know from Monster Hunter World and Iceborne with new acrobatic maneuvers based on local life known as Wirebugs. Jump through the air, run over rocks, and navigate open areas with ease. Wirebugs allow you to use different and unique special attacks for each of the 14 weapons in the game. Even if you have studied a specific weapon in the past, these new skills will add new skills to your toolbox.
You will meet a new type of companion: Kani Palamut. In addition to providing support along with Palico Felyne's trusted companions, you'll be able to ride the Palamute's back to roam anywhere. Riding a Palamut is a great way to safely use items or sharpen weapons when needed. Also be sure to pet your palamute and show him some love for all his hard work.
So what are we looking for?
The main monster Magnamalo leads the pack of new and recurring monsters inspired by Japanese folklore. Known as the Wyvern of Malice, the Magnamalo unleashes a deadly purple gas composed of the engulfed monsters known as Infernos, striking furiously with its powerful claws and spear-tipped tail.
Along with new monsters, returning favorites from previous Monster Hunter games will also challenge your skills. Many of these monsters feature new moves and abilities from previous games, so even if you're a veteran who's killed many ratalos and ratians over the years, you're sure to find a familiar yet fresh experience in Monster Hunter Rise.
A new threat emerges
Monster Hunter Rise puts you in the shoes of a fully customizable novice hunter at the start of your journey. Over time, your skills will grow and you will face more and more serious threats while protecting your hometown - the quiet and peaceful village of Kamura.
The peace of the city is threatened by the resurgence of the Magnamalo and an avalanche of monsters known as the Rampage. 50 years ago, Kamura suffered a crushing defeat from the same threat, but this time it's up to you to fight the Fury and protect the village. Together with dynamic characters, you will fight the impending threat and uncover the secret of wild monsters.
When you have free time in Kamura, you will spend time with your friends in the city preparing for your next hunt. Upgrade your team, repair your friends and eat delicious dangos.

Monster Hunter Rise uses the adaptive triggers of the PS5 DualSense controller to increase responsiveness and resistance when using gunslinger weapons, as well as light but powerful hits when blocking with a shield.
Last but not least, Monster Hunter Rise fully supports trophies on PS5 and PS4, so you can keep track of all your hunting achievements (and brag about them to your friends).

Later in Spring 2023, the massive Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will take the hunt to the next level, introducing new Master level monsters, new locations, and an all-new story full of challenging threats. While Monster Hunter Rise introduces new monsters inspired by Japanese folklore, Sunbreak introduces monsters from Western folklore such as the vampire-inspired Elder Dragon Malzeno.
It's safe to say there's a lot to look forward to once you enter the base game.

In short, Monster Hunter Rise will launch digitally on PS5 and PS4 on January 20, 2023. Pre-orders are being accepted online today and you'll receive additional enchanting layered armor for your Palamute and Palico. You will also receive a starting talisman to help you in the early stages of the game.
If you need a little extra help early on in the game, the Guild Cross Armor and Heritage Talisman will be available to all players for free. This unit has high defense and some useful skills that will help you get through the first few missions while learning the basics of hunting.
