But first, let me introduce you to this dark, painful, and brutal game we've created...
A few years ago, I had the idea for The Last Spell, which I pitched to Jack Dedeken, art director: an asymmetrical strategy game where a few heroes fight hundreds of monsters. The result was the first concept art of the game:
Now, in 2022, the game is much better, especially since Early Access started in 2021. During this time, thanks to the attention and support of our players, we have been able to offer the best gaming experience for every user. number of cards, more ideas and more possibilities.
Tricks and scammers
The final spell is not much different from the original idea given to Jack: you have to defend your port from a lot of monsters with your heroes. During the day you can patch up your heroes, buy weapons and build buildings, and at night you have to fight.
Each map has a different number of nights and your only goal is to survive as long as possible. The longer your heroes survive and fight, the more weapons, armor, passive skills and bonuses you will unlock for your next playthrough.
At night, we want you to feel like overpowered monsters to survive every moment of your run. This feeling is enhanced by the work of our composer Remy Gallego (Algorithm), who wrote the incredible metal soundtrack for The Last Spell.
The final spell is strategic, each hero has their own action, movement and mana points, which means you have to be careful with your every move. One mistake and your hero could face instant death... and that comes with experience.
We spent a lot of time trying to design the controls for The Last Spell, trying to figure out how best to play the game with a PlayStation controller. For example, we created a system that helps you quickly navigate the interface using your right thumb. We make sure that the combat phase is fast and smooth. Another important thing for us is having a dedicated tooltip button, as it is our main way to let players know about something.
The last spell to save the world
The world of The Last Spell is harsh and painful. Magical wars have destroyed everything, and only a few corners of paradise still lie in ruins. As if that wasn't enough, a poisonous mist spreads every night, drawing terrifying monsters to your walls.
I hope you have the means to save the world. Or, well, humanity has one: a final spell, a powerful spell to banish all magic from the world, erasing fog and demons in the process.
To do this, all remaining vaults must be sealed, and the only mission of the heroes is to protect the wizards at all costs. Failure to do so will result in their death and defeat, which can be translated as "You must start a new race".
Additional equipment to help in combat
Every hideout is hard to defend, but you have a few tools to help you succeed overnight. The greatest of them were light and dark mysterious creatures.
Thanks to this, night battles give you access to unique blessings, some of which can be purchased with crafted essence, while others can be unlocked through a series of games. Each battle won gives you an advantage in the future: you start small, and as you unlock more equipment, the battle becomes easier ... until you face a new deadly challenge.
By killing monsters, your heroes can level up, improve their stats, and learn new passive or active abilities. The specialization sets available to your heroes are randomly selected, so each hero has a different set that they can unlock.
All heroes in The Last Spell are classless, so their skills will change depending on the weapon you use. You can really try everything with your heroes and adjust your strategy. If something doesn't work, change it and choose something else!
