Neon White is a lightning-fast first-person action game where you slay demons behind the pearly gates of heaven. It's a unique blend of first-person shooter, platformer and social media puzzle game where you interact with your mortal assassins.
It may seem like a lot, but in practice it's simple: kill all the demons and get to the end of the level as quickly as possible. Levels are small challenges designed from the ground up to be replayed and customized through a unique soul card system. Soul cards are used as weapons and movement abilities. For example, the Godspeed card is a powerful cannon that can kill demons, but when you throw it, they rush forward. You can take your time and finish the level by shooting demons, but if you want to do it faster, you will have to sacrifice your weapons.
Neon White is all about speed, so performance was one of the top priorities. It was important to us that the PlayStation 5 version run at 120Hz in all environments. A high refresh rate is critical when accuracy matters. We have also optimized the SSD system to significantly reduce boot times. It is important that the reset steps are as quick and painless as possible. Keep restarting levels if you want to beat your friends' high scores on the leaderboard.
Neon White also uses the PS5's adaptive triggers to make each soul card unique by throwing and discarding it. The tactile feel of the controller provides an extra layer of feedback. You will feel them moving quickly through the water, and you will get a subtle confirmation of this when you successfully shoot a distant demon. Our goal was not only to make you feel good, but also to develop a sixth sense. Let me turn you crazy in an instant.
Before you destroy the Pearly Gates, here are some tips to help you level up and earn those top-notch medals.
Let the mud do its thing
Stocking up on ammo to maximize damage is no easy task. However, your goal is speed, not DPS. So here's my advice: keep your discard pile moving, killing enemies whenever possible. The Bomb Cleaner can kill four enemies at once, but why not try jumping over them for a boost?
Aim with the gyroscope
Neon White supports gyro aiming with the DualSense controller and personally I would never play without it. Gyro aiming can take a while to get used to, but it's very useful for an extra level of precision control when shooting demons.
Katana Tips
Neon White has several secret features that can give you an edge over the competition. White's standard katana isn't strong on its own, but it can be used to deflect a lot of enemy projectiles into it and deal extra damage. Successful katana parries give White a small speed boost, making him more effective when White is in the air.
Tips and tricks aside, the best way to experience the game is to jump in and try it out for yourself. Neon White includes all the tools you need to climb the leaderboard, no matter your experience level. And if you don't care about the levels, just complete the first mission. Trust me, you will worry about the ranking.
Neon White will release on PS5 and PS4 on December 13th.
