Since hosting our first console tournament in 2016, we've been excited to see the growth of esports and competitive gaming on our platform.
For the past three months, we've been beta testing the next generation of our competitive console game, PlayStation Tournament, for PS5.
The new interface makes competitive play easier with shorter tournament times, easier console registration, easier to find tournaments, a new user interface, live game updates, and other improvements that eliminate common barriers to online competition.
Today we're excited to launch the official PlayStation Championship on PS5 with Guilty Gear-Strive, NBA 2K23 and FIFA 23.* Now you can play and compete for prizes in a variety of special events, challenges and leaderboards. Competitions and more with our worldwide PS5 community.

New PlayStation Tournament feature for PS5
Based on community feedback, we've introduced several new features to make tournament play on PS5 easier and faster, including:
Simple search process. Tournaments are easy to find. Open the desired game on the PS5 home screen and press the down arrow button to view the list of upcoming tournaments. Also view available tournaments by launching Control Center by pressing the PS button while playing a supported game
Register in the console . Signing up is faster than ever. From the Control Center or Game Hub, select an available tournament and click the "Register" button to enter the competition.
Limit of parentheses . Tournament length traditionally increases as more players compete. However, we have introduced a new tile limit feature to ensure that each tournament has a standard length. If the limit is exceeded, multiple brackets will be created in the same tournament, but each will have the same prize pool.
More tournaments. Each has a different schedule. Tournaments will be held more frequently and regularly so that more players can get time to compete.
Completely new interface. The new tournament interface uses an activity card structure so you can easily view tournament information. Notifications will automatically guide you through the game and let you know when the next game starts. Tournaments can start at a moment's notice, giving you time to practice your game or play another game between matches.
View automatic results and real-time results . After registering for a tournament, all necessary information is available at the control center via the relevant activity card.
Results are displayed automatically and will be announced during the game.
The status of the entire tournament round can be seen at any time on the tournament card.
