Since the Family Portrait series began five weeks ago, we are pleased to present the work of a fantastic group of artists. These portraits show key relationships that play a key role in God of War Ragnarok.
Now that the series is complete, we've put together a gallery of all five works from the God of War Ragnarok website and resized them for wallpaper so you can bring the gallery home (screen). You can download them together here or download them individually below.
But that's not all!
We wouldn't end the series without adding a special twist. Not only did we bring each of the pieces to life, we also borrowed Mimir to share some of his insightful ideas for our portraits!
Drew Merritt - The Bear and the Wolf
Drew Merritt's portrayal of Kratos and Atreus, the bear and the wolf, shows the family connection of our heroes. Together, father and son went through many hardships, trying to scatter the ashes of the Fae (the wife of Kratos and the mother of Atreus) on the highest peak of all kingdoms. After the events of God of War (2018), Kratos and Atreus become the close family that Faye has always hoped for.
But Atreus is no longer a child in God of War Ragnarok. Through tireless training under his father's watchful and protective eye, he became a skilled fighter with the agility and cunning of a wolf. Atreus knows that some questions have answers that can only be found outside their icy home in Midgard.
The snows of Fimbulwinter herald the coming of Ragnarok and are an ever-growing danger to all in the Nine Realms. Now more than ever, Kratos must prepare Atreus to fight and survive as he was once taught. Protective and cautious, like a bear protecting its cubs, Kratos will do anything to protect his family.

Emma Rios - Dwarfs
Emma Reese's dwarf portrait gives you the chance to see new faces as well as familiar siblings Huldra, Brock and Syndra.
Although they had disagreements in the past, Brock and Sindri rebuilt not only their business relationship, but their sibling relationship as well. Both master smiths repeatedly supplied Kratos and Atreus with much-needed gear upgrades throughout their journey. While not without quirks, Brock and Syndra's continued support has earned them the trust and, dare I say it, the friendship of Kratos and his son.
Emma's work also provides insight into Svartalfheim, the home realm of the Dwarves. Known for their brilliant engineering and craftsmanship, the inhabitants of this realm are proud and experienced.
Building vast structures from watermills, mines, and forges, the Dwarves skillfully used the environment to create the finest tools, weapons, and armor in the Nine Realms.
We've already introduced Durlene and her wavy little friend Diner, but we'll wait a bit longer to introduce you to our new mysterious friend and her very cute, very wrinkled dog.

Romina Tempest - heroine of Midgard
The arrival of Ragnarok may have heralded the apocalypse, but that doesn't mean our heroes can't enjoy the silence between battles.
Romina Tempest's work depicts an unusual scene, a dinner scene with friends and family. When danger lurks around every corner, these moments of laughter and comfort become the most precious and special of all.
The relationship between father and son is central to our story, but Kratos and Atreus are no longer just fighting to protect each other. As the classic saying goes, sometimes a family has a blue, a midget, a leader, a son, and a god (or two) of war!

Jae Lee - mother and son
Jae Li's portrait depicts the goddess Freya holding the body of her lost child Baldur. In the events of God of War (2018), Freya was not only an ally of Kratos and Atreus, but ultimately a friend. Under her guidance and knowledge of the powerful magic of the Vanir, it was only with her help that father and son were able to complete their quest.
The ending of the final game left Kratos with a choice: kill Baldur and end his parent's murder cycle, or respect Freya's wishes and let Baldur take the life of the woman who saved his son. Though Kratos knows the pain of losing a child, he couldn't stand by when Baldur tried to kill his mother.
Although father and son saved Freya's life, they did so at the expense of their friendship. In her grief, the goddess swore revenge on Kratos, vowing that the price of her son's death would be paid in blood.
Even though her ex-husband Odin stripped her of her wings and the title of Valkyrie Queen, Freya's suffering and anger made her a force to be reckoned with.

Sui Isis is Asir
From the realm of Asgard, Odin and his family rule over the Nine Realms. For all his accumulated knowledge and power, the death of his son Baldur and the arrival of Fimbulwinter signify the Allfather's inability to prevent the beginning of the prophecy he had long tried to circumvent. A second such failure is unacceptable.
Sui Ishida's portrait shows Odin in the background, surrounded and protected by his family's warriors who stand between him and anyone who defies their cause.
While some of these faces have yet to be met, there are a few aces that Kratos and Atreus have already battled on their way to Jotunheim. The father-son duo eventually killed Balder, along with Thor's sons Magni and Modi. These actions not only drained the blood of the most powerful family in the Nine Realms, but also removed important pieces from the board that served as an extension of the will of the Allfather.
Despite these losses, Odin's most powerful character remains: the most ferocious warrior in all of Asgard, Thor. Armed with the legendary weapon Mjolnir, the God of Thunder's infamy is only matched by the brutal force he uses against all who oppose his family.
While Ragnarok looms on the horizon, the aces prepare for war, and the lives of Kratos and Atreus, taken away many years ago, can cost even more.
