Four new cars join Gran Turismo 7:
Maserati Merak SS '80
This high performance Merak model is tuned for even higher performance.
The Maserati Merak was a mid-engine sports car launched in 1972. A year ago it was designed as a sister model to the Boras. The exterior design was very similar to that of the Bora, both designed by Giugiaro. However, while the Bora was a fastback, the Merak was a sedan with fastback styling. This allowed the car to maintain the same image while becoming lighter and improving engine cooling. While the Bora offered the V8, the Merak had a 187 hp 3L V6 inherited from the Citroen SMS. With this compact engine, the seating arrangement has been changed to a 2+2 layout, allowing space for luggage. In 1975, a high performance model was introduced as the Merak SS. The compression ratio was increased and further adjustments were made to increase the engine to 216 hp and the top speed from 139.8 mph to 155.3 mph.
Mazda Roadster NR-A (ND) '22
This basic motorsport model includes the basics of the roadster.
Launched in 2015, the fourth-generation 'ND' roadster received international acclaim for its return to the original 'jinba itai' ('horse and rider move as one') roadster concept. The essence of the ND is revealed only in the NR-A segment, the motorsport-oriented base model. NR-A was first added to the range with the second generation NB model, which was introduced to give everyone an easy way to experience the thrill of circuit racing.
These ideas continue in the updated ND edition, with a special focus on sporty driving. The drivetrain frame that connects the transmission to the rear differential has been upgraded along with related parts such as the driveshaft, LSD and differential case.
The radiator and brake discs have also been added, and the suspension uses height-adjustable Bilstein shocks. Another important feature is that the driver can now view statistics such as fuel consumption on the multi-information display via the steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
This 2022 model has further improvements, with the new kinematic position control system significantly increasing rear stability. The options list includes racing equipment such as roll bars and bucket seats, making it easy to transform this car into a full-on racing machine. The NR-A could be the answer to many drivers' prayers, as it's just as much fun on city streets as it is on the highway.
Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '73
Only 197 examples of this GT-R were built before it was unfortunately discontinued due to strict emissions standards.
The C10 Skyline, nicknamed "Hakosuka" (meaning "boxed skyline"), passed the baton to a new model in September 1972. The new C110 model, called the "Kenmary" in advertising, was ' an explosive success from its launch. The body had a flowing shape, removing all unnecessary lines. However, it still had 4 circular headlights that distinguished the surface lines and horizon markings.
The GT-R badge returned to this Kenmore the following year in January 1973. This GT-R's model code was KPGC110 and it had the same popular engine as the S20 inline-6. The power of 157 hp and the maximum torque of 18 kgfm remained unchanged. The front strut and rear trailing arm suspension were also the same as the previous GT-R, but the new four-wheel disc brakes were a step up for the times. At 4,460 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,380 mm tall, it appears to be larger than the "Hakosuka". If all goes well, this Kenmeri GT-R should have won many a race series, but this car has to deal with ever-increasing emissions regulations. The S20 was a pure racing engine and was unable to overcome this constant demand. So Nissan made a difficult decision. Only 3 months and 197 cars were built, this Kennery GT-R never raced and was lost. After that, Nissan kicked the mothball around for 16 years until it came back with the GT-R badge R32.
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 '18
A racing version of the GT-R for GT3 class competition.
The Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is an FIA GT3 compliant production racing car based on the Nissan GT-R R35 model. Since 2012, a GT-R version of the GT3 has been offered to customers, but since 2015 the base model has been replaced by the GT-R Nismo, which has a stiffer body. The 2018 model switched to a dry sump, moving the engine about 150mm further back in the engine bay to lower the center of gravity for easier weight distribution. Front-end stiffness has also been improved, and the front and rear suspension and suspension have been tuned to provide precise cornering response. The design of the engine compartment has also been improved, the radiators and internal parts have been modified to improve airflow and cooling. They were able to improve body stability on high-speed roads by fine-tuning air circulation.
