When Frey Holland is transported to the mysterious land of Atia, one thing becomes clear. it's not just his new home. This is his playground.
Forspoken's hero is capable of incredible magical parkour, leaping, flipping, slashing and leaping across the world with amazing fluidity. You can see more about how it all works in our new parkour dive:
So what was Frey doing in this video? Read on and we'll tell you a little more about the parkour skills at his disposal and how he can use them.
Work process
This is one of Frey's main strengths and the heartbeat of Forspoken's parkour.
It is activated by pressing the button with a circle. in this state, Frey will move through the world with incredible speed and incredible grace. It will automatically jump over small rocks and ledges, jump over small walls, and do its best to keep moving in the direction you specify.
Of course, there are limits. Using the stream alone will prevent Freyr from climbing down the chasm or climbing a tall building, which requires tenacity. To approach this style, you must combine Flow with other Frey movements and learn how to combine them.
Think of it as the core of a system that lets you control the pace, instead of letting the game work for you. The better you play, the better you move and the cooler Frey will be.
hurry up
The Rush ability allows you to go even faster by pressing buttons at the right time.
When using Flux, you'll sometimes see Frey's fire coming for a short time. Press the circle button when it sees this visual cue and it will move forward and maintain its pace. It also allows you to maintain maximum speed while regaining some stamina.
This is a great example of how Forspoken's parkour system is easy to learn, but truly masterful. A beginner to the game can have fun with basic Flow, but experienced Rush players can move faster and faster for much longer.
Shimmy
Want to increase speed quickly? Juicy time.
This move allows Frey to accelerate off the ground. Press X at the right time and Frey will do a short jump forward. If you press X again upon landing, you'll be able to continue moving forward at breakneck speed.
It's great because it's another move that maintains stamina. Many abilities depend on this resource, and when it runs out, the same goes for Frey's current function. Sometimes it's helpful to take a breath at the right time, as his duration regenerates quickly when Frey isn't using an ability.
This is why skills like Shimmy and Rush are very useful. Since they don't absorb resistance, they allow you to run much longer than normal. The better you play, the longer you can keep the flow going...and the better you feel.
Stairs
The flow can carry you up the wall, but to climb higher, you must learn to climb.
This ability allows Frey to create phantom levitation bases. You can use it to get the boost you need to reach the top of a building or start gliding around the world.
The extra bounce is great, but you know what's really great? With an extra jump. By the way...
fly
Jumping allows you to climb higher by making several jumps in a row.
As the name suggests, Soar allows Frey to reach incredible heights that would not be possible with a normal jump; this extra height is a game changer, allowing you to reach places you wouldn't otherwise be able to reach, and even more, great outdoor parkour.
OK, maybe not the flashiest ability in Frey's repertoire, but you'll wonder how you ever lived.
lightning bolt
Lightning - now it's very noticeable.
Pressing the square button allows Frey to release himself from the magical bond that attracts whatever he is bound to. This is useful for advancing in situations where you wouldn't have an advantage, or for avoiding cutscenes that might otherwise slow your progress.
You can also hold down square to slow down the action and target areas you want to focus on. Although the zip can be attached to any wall, it is very useful when targeting certain objects found around the world. This allows Frey to move forward at incredible speed or float in the air.
swim
You have flown, climbed the stairs, climbed and climbed, and you need to get down as fast as possible. what you're doing: Use Float, of course.
This idle ability allows Frey to manipulate gravity to mitigate any effect. Hold the X button in the air and you'll be able to glide gently at a controlled speed.
Of course, applications go beyond survival; they are also wonderful in general transitional situations. Swimming allows you to easily cross large gaps. Do you want to reach the other side of the chasm or jump from one building to another? In most cases, you can slide it wherever you want.
Be careful. you'll still go down slowly, so it's best to combine it with parkour skills like Zip when covering long distances.
Slide:
Water slows you down, gets in your way, and often has many toothy monsters eager to use you as a chew toy. In other words, it is the enemy of parkour.
Of course, if you don't know how to skate.
You have to see it in the trailers. This allows Frey to move on the surface of the water. If Frey has learned this ability, it will automatically activate when you use Flux on sparkling materials. click on the circle to navigate.
The speed and style you can travel, every lake, river and sea offers the chance to enjoy boating in style. this is especially useful against some of the wet monsters mentioned above; with this ability, you can run rings around them. Or rather, the rings slide around them.
Forspoken is one of those games where scrolling is really fun. Transition isn't just about getting out of AB, it's about getting there with skill and style.
It's up to you how you combine these different magical powers to feel like you're "flying" through the world, and when you do, it's incredibly satisfying and fun.
